We had another fun filled opening night. “Markings” is an exhibit showcasing work made here at PRESS, which includes work by interns and volunteers Adriana Alexatos, Hayley Parker, Antoine Scalbert, and Leeya Jackson, as well as PRESS founder Melanie Mowinski. We also have a line of postcards that were made by participants from our “Make Your Own Mantra” workshops. Adriana and Hayley were able to come help out with event, while current intern Jonas ran the Vandercook. Also, a special shout out to Shanti Sponder for creating the kickin’ pompoms that are on display in our window.
Along with the usually activities with an opening, in our classroom we had an IS183 Art Workshop, which allowed kids, young and old, to dress up and decorate their own cardboard person. Kurt Kolok screen printed T-Shirts and posters for the Save St. Francis mission. Also, Lisa Donovan signed books for her “Integrating the Arts Across the Content Areas” series, and gave a few remarks as well.
It was quite an active night. There are also more pictures on our Flickr page from the event.
