PRESS: Letterpress as a Public Art Project opens its next exhibit to be immediately followed by a poetry reading at 105 Main St. North Adams, Massachusetts.

NORTH ADAMS, MA – PRESS: LetterPRESS as a Public Art Project is pleased to announce a new Poetry Reading for the Berkshire Women’s Writers Festival and exhibition, Poets in Print! beginning March 29^th at their 105 Main Street Location.

Take a stroll downtown and join PRESS & Co for an exciting evening of poetry and art beginning at 5 p.m. for the Poets in Print Exhibition opening.  Refreshments will be served. This exhibit will feature prints created by PRESS of the November and December poets: Abbot Culter, Barry Sternlieb, Hannah Fries, Mark Miller, Melanie Mowinski, Jill Gilbreth, Jeff McRae, and Michelle Gillet. Selections from the Experimental Typography workshop from Saturday, March 24^th, will also be on view.

Following the opening at 7:30 p.m. the following Berkshire Women Writers: Patty Crane, Trudy Ames, Cynthia Gardner, and Lisken Van Pelt Dus, will all share their poetry. Admission is free and open to the public.

Patty Crane’s new translation of Nobel Prize winner Tomas Tranströmer’s book Sorgegondolen (The Sorrow Gondola) was recently published in the journal Blackbird. Her poetry has appeared in American Letters & Commentary, Bellevue Literary Review, RUNES, The Massachusetts Review, The Spoon River Poetry Review, and WestBranch, among other journals. Her awards include the 2004 Two Rivers Review Poetry Prize and Atlanta Review’s 2005 International Publication Prize.

Trudy Ames holds an MFA from Bennington College; her poems have been published in numerous publications, including Ploughshares, Southwest Review, LIT, Potlatch, Under One Roof, Holding True as well as other journals and anthologies. She is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including two National Endowment awards toward the study of poetry.

Cynthia Read Gardner’s poems have been published in Alaska Quarterly Review, Southern Poetry Review, The Bridge, and various anthologies such as CROSSING PATHS: An Anthologhy of Poems by Women, (Mad Rivers Press, 2002). She has been employed as a clinical social worker for many years. Her Chapbook published by the Finishing Line Press will be coming out may 2012.

Lisken Van Pelt Dus is a poet, teacher, and martial artist.  Her poetry can be found in Conduit, Main Street Rag, The South Carolina Review, upstreet, and other journals and anthologies, and has earned awards from The Comstock Review and Atlanta Review.  Her chapbook, Everywhere at Once, was published by Pudding House Press in 2009.
