Getting Ready for Manifestos

Hi, again!

It’s only Tuesday afternoon but it’s already been a super busy week installing Manifestos.  We open Thursday for the DownStreet Art kickoff, but everyone has been in getting ready for the show! It’s been really fun working on every part of the process and even though I’ve installed before I’ve learned a lot from doing all the measuring (or lack thereof) myself. On Monday, I hung my first salon style grouping with a set of fantastic prints from A Revolutionary Press and realized when they were all hung that somewhere in the middle the spacing changed from 3 inches to 4 inches. With that lesson in mind I tried to be extra careful installing the opposite wall in a standard linear arrangement, especially since we have painted a big red stripe across it which makes uneven hanging really obvious!  However, I (wrongly) assumed that all the clips we hang from were the same size, and some of my original measurements were a half inch too high. I have also become a blue tape ninja today while painting the MANIFESTOS design in the front window, while Jonas is installing  TWO(!) super elaborate vinyl versions of the PRESS manifesto, I really don’t envy him… All in all we are running well on schedule and should meet our install goal of being done by 5 pm tomorrow!
