Hi, I’m Isaac! I’m a sophomore at MCLA and the new student intern here at PRESS Gallery! I’m a Vermont native/Boston transplant, now student in the Berkshires. I’ve been in and out of PRESS as a student for the past year and a half and I jumped at the chance when Gallery Chief and Founder, Melanie Mowinski, offered me an internship here.
I’m an Art Major, with no set concentration, looking to expand my knowledge of how to work both in a professional gallery setting and how to work in the analog. I used to focus in digital photography, but ever since I came to North Adams and started taking classes at PRESS, I decided to shift my focus in to the craft of bookmaking, and letterpress. There is something about setting type and using the Vandercook Press that is just fascinating to me. With this the opportunity to work with both Melanie and Jonas is incredible feeling and I look forward to learning as much as possible while I am here.
I hope you come down and introduce yourself, I’d certainly enjoy meeting you and letting you know what’s going on with the gallery.
