June 28-July 22 Ink in the Blood: Printed Works on Paper, featuring artists Julio Granda and Barry Sternlieb, two creative forces in the Berkshires that have joined together for a good three decades of collaboration. This exhibit shows the marriage of their specialties. For these works, Barry has done the prints and Julio the art to make a collection of remarkable broadsides.

July 26-August 26 Type High, an exhibit that presents the work of Wells College Victor Hammer Fellow Kate Baldwin and her students. Katie Baldwin is a printmaker who has traveled to several countries as an artist in residence, including Japan, Mexico and Cuba. The work exhibited in this show features many of her own pieces, as well as some of her students work. Type High is an exhibition that resulted from work created by students enrolled in her class, “Art on the Press”, at the Book Arts Center at Wells College in Aurora, NY. Through workshops, discussions, critical analysis and making prints students developed sophisticated ways in which printmaking became a vehicle for the expression of ideas, content and personal voice.

August 30-September 23 Postal Pinacotheca, will feature work from a mail exchange, a year-long project between three women from the Northeast of the United States and three women from Australia. The artists are Australians Babette Angell, Anne-Maree Hunter, and Heather Matthew, and Americans Katie Baldwin, Melanie Mowinski, the founder of PRESS, and Tara O’Brien, the founder of this project. Each exchange began with a theme chosen by one of the artists. Each artist created a work based on the chosen theme and then mailed it to each other. The exhibit will have two copies of each piece, so the viewer can see all aspects–from postage and customs forms to content and colophon.

September 27-October 28  Getting there is Easy will celebrate the hard work and creations of the summer.  Sandragraphs, pressure prints, linoleum prints, prints with moveable type as well as book art and paste papers will be on display. The show will highlight work from Melanie Mowinski’s Experimental Letterpress class, taught at PRESS through MCLA, as well as other work created at PRESS during the summer.
